PhD Student / Research Assistant
Baylor University
Owen received his MS from the University of Texas at El Paso, and his BS from the University of Nebraska-Lincon and is currently a PhD student and Research Assistant at Baylor University. His current research aims to understand the interaction of multi-stressor environmental exposures on human health, performance, and safety.
As a Research Assistant within the Human and Environmental Physiology Laboratory (HEPL) at Baylor, Owen is interested in combining neuromuscular and hemodynamic biosensor monitoring to improve the identification of fatigue and performance decrements during various environmental exposures.
Furthermore, Owen has a particular interest in advancing the use of non-invasive physiological monitoring to identify neuroplastic and endothelial changes associated with acute intermittent hypoxia (AIH) therapy in clinical cases and using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to track hemodynamic changes within the brain during critical decision-making tasks and tracking tissue recovery processes following cranial injuries such as traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).
