Human Performance Collaborative, The Ohio State University
Justin J. Merrigan, PhD CSCS*D, is a Senior Researcher at the Human Performance Collaborate at The Ohio State University. Dr. Merrigan works to find a deeper understanding of the causes for acute and chronic degradations of cognitive and physical capabilities, as well as responses to various stressors. Overall, his work aims to identify avenues for increasing resiliency of the mind and body for improved vitality and longevity in a variety of populations. Some of his work includes identifying periods of excessive training stressors and evaluating ways to prepare the body and mind for the upcoming stressors or quickly recover from stressors using recovery modalities or mindfulness practices. To do so, his research has included evaluating potential markers associated with injury risk, validation and feasibility testing of human performance technologies, stress and fatigue monitoring, responses to eccentric training, and efficacy of recovery modalities.
