Marc D. Cook PhD., M.S., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at North Carolina A&T State University. He completed his MS and PhD in Exercise Physiology & Immunology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Cook is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) since 2005, with an expertise concerning the role of exercise and the immune system on vascular health and function. Dr. Cook’s current work includes translational research (in vitro—endothelial cell culture and in vivo—exercise interventions) to investigate novel biomarkers of racial health disparities concerning the interaction between the gut microbiome, exercise, and vascular dysfunction (hypertension) in athletic and sedentary populations.
